Toggl at $9 per seat a month, billed monthly. Premium is advertised at $14 per seat a month for the first year of annual billing, then renews at $18. Stunda Team is $4.49 per person a month, with no seat cap. That is where the two models separate: 2.0x at 5 people.
Toggl's Timeline shows you what you did. To bill it, you open the timeline, find the blocks that belong to a client, copy them into entries, label them and submit. That is the same work as remembering your week, just with better prompts. In Stunda the session is created against a project as it happens, carries its own rate, and knows whether it has been invoiced, so the end of the month is a selection rather than a reconstruction.
You can generate an invoice from a Toggl report, summarised or line by line, add tax and branding, and download the PDF. What you cannot do is come back to it: generated invoices are not saved in the app, so the record of what you billed lives in your downloads folder. On the free plan the PDF carries Toggl's logo. Stunda stores every invoice, numbers it, gives it a public link you can send a client, and tracks whether it has been paid.
Toggl's Premium tier is advertised at $14 per seat a month on annual billing and renews at $18, which is a 29% increase arriving in year two when the workspace is full of your history and switching has become expensive. That is a legitimate way to sell software and it is worth putting in the spreadsheet at the renewal figure rather than the introductory one. Below it, Starter at $9 is the first tier that invoices at all; the free plan tracks and reports but does not bill anyone. Stunda has one price per plan, the same in year two as in year one, and invoicing is on the free tier.
Toggl does not advertise AI features on its pricing page, and the MCP servers you can find for it are community projects wrapping the public API. Stunda's is first-party and hosted, so asking Claude "what did I not bill for last week" is a question about your actual account rather than about a wrapper somebody else maintains.
Stunda hosts an MCP endpoint, so Claude, Cursor, Codex and VS Code can answer questions about your tracked week without an export. It runs strictly as you, on every plan including Free, and it uses no AI quota.
How the AI layer is builtThis is worth stating plainly, because the previous version of this page pretended otherwise. Toggl's timer is fast, its reporting is excellent, the browser extension puts a start button inside a hundred other tools, and the Timeline genuinely does record your apps and websites automatically, on the free plan, without sending them anywhere until you choose to. If you like driving a timer, Toggl is the one to drive. Stunda is for people who have established, repeatedly, that they will not press it.
Nothing here is a migration project. The honest version is that tracking starts fresh and your history comes across as a file.

The Toggl desktop app records a Timeline of every app and website you use for more than about ten seconds, on the free plan, stored on your own machine.
