Keyboard shortcuts

These are global: they work while Stunda is in the background, so you never have to find the window to stop a timer.

Action macOS Windows
Start or stop the timer Ctrl + Cmd + Enter Ctrl + Win + Enter
Stop the current session Ctrl + Cmd + . Ctrl + Win + .
Pause without ending the session Ctrl + Cmd + P Ctrl + Win + P
Toggle compact mode Ctrl + Cmd + T Ctrl + Win + T

The menu-bar and tray icon also holds Show Stunda and Quit. On macOS those are Cmd + Shift + F and Cmd + Q.

Common fixes

In rough order of how often they come up.

macOS says the app is damaged and can’t be opened

The file is fine. macOS Gatekeeper flags apps downloaded outside the App Store, and the wording it chooses is alarming. Clearing the quarantine attribute fixes it.

The full steps, with the exact command, are on the download page.

Sessions only show application names, not what I was working on

That is the Accessibility permission on macOS. Without it Stunda still tracks, and activity counts still work, but it can only see that Chrome was in front, not which tab. Window titles and browser tab URLs need the grant.

Turn it on in Settings → Permissions → Accessibility inside the app, which opens the right System Settings pane for you.

Screenshots are not being taken

Screenshots are off until they are turned on, by you or by an admin of your Team workspace, and they need the Screen Recording permission on macOS. Both are in Settings → Permissions. Nothing else in Stunda depends on that grant, so leaving it off costs you nothing else.

Time I spent reading or in a meeting came out as idle

Thirty seconds with no keyboard or mouse input marks a stretch idle. That is deliberately blunt, because the alternative is a tracker that quietly bills an empty desk.

Idle time is shown separately rather than deleted, so you can still bill it if it was real work. For calls and work away from the machine, add a manual entry. It sits alongside the automatic timeline.

I closed my laptop with a timer running

The session ends at the moment the machine slept, not when you opened it again. Closing a lid at six and reopening at nine does not produce three billed hours.

If you are looking at an old session that does show the gap, it predates this and you can correct it by editing the entry.

The desktop app has sessions the web app does not

Nothing is lost. The desktop app writes to a local database first and syncs afterwards, which is what lets it keep tracking through a dropped connection. A session that has not appeared on the web yet is still on disk.

If it stays missing once you are back online, sign out and back in on the desktop app, which re-establishes the link to your workspace, and then write to help@stunda.io if the gap is still there.

Permissions say granted but tracking behaves as if they are not

macOS ties a permission to a specific build of an app, so an update can leave a stale entry behind that looks granted and is not honoured.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find Stunda under Accessibility, switch it off and on again, then restart the app. An app is not allowed to clear its own entries, which is why we cannot do this for you.

Still measuring, since the moment you opened this page

You've been here 2:40.
That's $3.78 unbilled.

That's how it slips away: a few quiet minutes at a time, on every project. Stunda catches them all day, silently, and turns them into invoices that send in four steps.
