Nine comparisons, including the rows we lose.

Every competitor figure below was read off that company's own public pages on or after , and we quote their cheapest advertised rate rather than their most expensive. Each page carries a section on what that product does better than Stunda, because most of them do something better than Stunda.

The three things that separate Stunda from all 9

The session is the entry

Several of these track automatically. Toggl records a local timeline, Timely records a memory feed, RescueTime and Rize both watch your apps. In every case there is a step where you turn a recording into a billable line. A Stunda session is created against a project as it happens, carries its own rate, and knows whether it has been invoiced yet.

Counts, never content

Keystrokes and clicks are counted and the events are discarded. Browser URLs are stored with the query string removed, because that is where search terms and session tokens live. Screenshots exist, default to off, and are yours. There is no tier that unlocks a way to watch somebody else, which is a straightforward difference from the monitoring products in this list.

A first-party MCP server

Hosted by us, serving the 2026-07-28 protocol revision, with 6 tools and a token you revoke yourself. This part of the category is moving quickly and three of the 9 now ship an official server: Harvest's is the closest to ours, Hubstaff's is read-only and limited to owners and managers, and Rize's is in beta and gated by tier. For the other six, what exists is community wrappers around a REST API, or nothing at all. Ours is on every plan including Free, reads and writes for every user, and does not consume your AI quota.

If you already know what you need

A free plan covering a team
Clockify (five seats) , Apploye (ten seats) . Stunda's free plan is one person, so this row is not ours.
Nothing free you can sign up for, only a trial
Hubstaff, Time Doctor, Timely, Rize, RescueTime. Worth knowing before you plan an evaluation around one, since the clock starts whether or not you are ready to look.
Automatic tracking without screenshots or an activity score
Stunda, or Timely, which has held an anti-surveillance position for years. Our own version is on the privacy page.
Deep project accounting: budgets, retainers, expenses
Harvest. It is a billing system with a tracker attached rather than the reverse.
Contractual proof-of-work screenshots
Hubstaff, Time Doctor or Apploye. They are built for it and we deliberately are not.
Still deciding what matters
The six questions that decide it, with the product that wins each one named.

Still measuring, since the moment you opened this page

You've been here 2:40.
That's $3.78 unbilled.

That's how it slips away: a few quiet minutes at a time, on every project. Stunda catches them all day, silently, and turns them into invoices that send in four steps.

Free forever for solo freelancers. No card required. Setup takes 60 seconds.
